This is one of my most favorite sentences:
“It reminds me of you”
Beautiful, isn’t it? No matter who says it, no matter when, even when my whole world is crumbling apart, hearing that sentence could make me smile again. No, it’s not cheesy like I Love You. It’s not childish, nor cringey, nor a mere courtesy.
It is so much more.
I was at my gym longue, working on some documents that my client requested. My phone vibrated. There were two notifications from Instagram. My colleague sent me a video about Book and Bed Hostel in Tokyo. She just said, “This reminds me of you. I think you’re gonna like it.”
And I immediately smiled ear to ear. To imagine that other people think of you when they see something specific, isn’t it a little niceties that make your day?
The other notification was from my old friend in college. She read in a comic book about people getting angry more often when they live in humid countries. And even though we haven’t see each other for 5 years, she mentioned me because she said she remembers hearing me said the same theory. The theory is: people live happier and more peaceful in cold countries. Don’t debate me on that. I have my firm stance.
But you see, the sentence: It reminds me of you is so personal and beautiful to hear.
Have you ever seen something and one specific person crossed your mind? Next time you do, go ahead and send the picture, video, or text, to them. Why do we have to keep it bottled up? Letting them know that they’re in our mind is more than enough. They will feel hugely appreciated. It means you think about them. It means you remember the small insignificant details about their hobbies, lives, or interests. That feeling is indescribable.

I am currently working on that, too. There are so many “Dad Jokes” that I see in the Twitter, some of them were really relevant to me because I immediately think of my dad joking the same way. I chuckled loud in my room. But also, I forwarded the jokes to my dad.
Maybe at first, he doesn’t get the jokes. But who cares, right? The important thing is: he crossed my mind, and I wanted him to know that.
What a perfect world we live in, if everyone just show how much we care about other people.
Otherwise, we’re just tiny human living in our own bubble, laughing alone in our room, and my dad won’t ever know that his dad jokes were always the best.
